Below are selected comments about the Island Principle and the book, Getting Started in Global Investing.

Dear RK, Like a miner searching for the hint of "golden treasure" I've searched far and wide for an author who agrees with what I thought was "my own original method" of mutual fund investing! I 'know" that your book is correct because "I" have been using these exact techniques successfully for years. By "dollar cost averaging" and particularly, "annually rebalancing" a diversified portfolio of "World Stock" equity mutual funds, I have even been able to add an additional level of risk reduction while increasing the annualized total return of the basic plan you so aptly describe! Everything you say in the book is SO "on the money"! It is hard for someone who has never invested this way to believe me but it is true. This is simply the best, easiest most profitable long term way to manage your stocks!! Over the years I have experimented with 6 or 8 different funds (just as you suggest) and have settled on a combination both in percentage and style that best suits my personal risk and goals! I've aggressively tried to help and share my methods on some of the major "boards" on the web, but am considered a "heretic"! You even touched on that in your book! Investing is emotional! Every investing decision we make is either based on fear or greed! The techniques you describe remove the "fear" and the "greed" in the short "and" the long term! For newbie, novice or "investing sophisticate," your book is a "classic"! Thank you for writing it................................Taylor

"I found Robert Kreitler's book to be insightful and informative for a novice investor. He defines the profile of an Island Investor early in the book as someone who wants to invest for the long term, ie 5 to 10 years. If you are looking for get rich quick advice, it's not to be found here. The key message is that global diversity allows risk reduction even while investing in higher risk stocks, producing a greater return over the years for your chosen risk level than investing in a single market would allow. It's worth a read."

"This book was very interesting and helpful for the investor who is afraid of the global markets. The author does an excellent job of differentiating the types of global markets and strategies for choosing safe diversified investments. As a novice investor, I found the Island Principle interesting and easy to understand."
